COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS
Reformer Pilates Studio Launching at Carter & George
Local health and wellness clinic Carter & George has announced the launch of its new Reformer Pilates studio, opening in Hertford on 29 June. A limited number of founding memberships are now available ahead of the launch, with sessions designed to help build strength, improve movement and support long-term wellbeing.
County Hall Set for Housing Redevelopment
The former County Hall site in Hertford could be transformed into a major residential development after Hertfordshire County Council recommended its sale to developer City & Country. The largely vacant site, which has struggled to attract commercial interest, would see its historic 1930s buildings converted into apartments, with new homes also planned on parts of the wider site.
Plans include protecting and enhancing the cricket pitch and woodland for recreation and nature, while retaining community and flexible-use spaces within the landmark building. The proposal is subject to council approval, planning permission and community consultation. More info here.
Residents Invited to Shape Social Housing Policy
East Herts Council is seeking public feedback on proposed changes to its social housing allocation system. With more than 2,600 households currently on the housing register and around 600 affordable homes allocated each year, the council says the updates aim to make the process fairer, clearer and more focused on local housing needs.
Proposals include introducing a residency requirement for new applicants, revising income thresholds and replacing the current points-based system with priority bands. Residents are encouraged to take part and share their views online until 6 July, with councillors set to review the final policy in October.

๐ฆ HERTFORD WEATHER: 2 - 8 JUNE 2026
Keep your umbrellas handy for the first half of the week. We are looking at a bumpy start with thunderstorms predicted for Tuesday (19ยฐC) and Thursday (18ยฐC), sandwiching a rainy Wednesday (17ยฐC).
The good news? The weekend looks much drier. Things settle down starting Friday with partly cloudy skies, leading into a mostly cloudy but dry weekend. Temps will steadily climb back up, peaking at a pleasant 21ยฐC by next Monday. ๐

โจ MIND, HEALTH + FITNESS
Which of these truths cut the deepest?
Some realizations don't just hurt - they shake you awake. They force you to finally look at your habits, your relationships, and the excuses you've been leaning on for far too long. Facing that reality is uncomfortable, but itโs also the exact moment your life starts to change.
๐ง EXTRA SPRINKLES
Thereโs nothing quite like the old-school magic of a Pick Your Own day out. With the season almost kicking off, (most PYO starts mid-June, so get it in the diary) weโve tracked down the ultimate fruit and flower-picking patches near Hertford for some wholesome memories. ๐๐ป๐ธ
Sweet Briar Flower Farm
๐ Foxholes Farm Park, Hertford
PYO flowers just 5 minutes from Hertford - lovely for a properly local flower-picking option. Check Instagram before going for current flower availability.
Pearceโs Farm Shop
๐ Buntingford
PYO strawberries and raspberries, usually running through summer. A good easy family option with the farm shop/cafรฉ too.
Graveley Fruit Farm
๐ Graveley, near Hitchin
PYO strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants, with play areas and cafรฉ. Fruit picking usually starts mid-June, so check before travelling.
Hawkswick Fruit Farm
๐ St Albans
A popular soft-fruit PYO spot,
Bury Lane Farm
๐ Melbourn, near Royston
PYO strawberries and seasonal flowers, including tulips, peonies, sunflowers and dahlias depending on timing.
Cammas Hall Farm
๐ Hatfield Broad Oak, near Bishopโs Stortford
A bigger PYO day out with seasonal fruit from June to October. Booking is required for PYO slots.
Hitchin Lavender
๐ Ickleford, near Hitchin
Lavender picking opens later in June, with bags available to buy for picking. More of a summer flower-field day out than a fruit farm.
Lathcoats Farm
๐ Galleywood, Chelmsford
Another further-afield option, currently showing PYO strawberries available for 2026, with other fruits/flowers becoming seasonal later.
Youโre now fully in the loop, Hertford.
