COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

⭐️ BEAM Update - Support Local Theatre
Hertford’s BEAM theatre and cinema is currently facing a challenging year, with lower-than-expected ticket sales impacting overall income.

The good news? A refreshed business plan is on the way, alongside recent improvements like a new website - all part of efforts to strengthen the venue moving forward.

If you’ve been meaning to go, this is your sign - supporting local shows, films and events at BEAM really does make a difference ❤️

🏡 New Funding Secured for East Herts Local Plan
East Herts Council has secured over £108,000 in government funding to support the development of its new Local Plan.

After pausing public consultation last year while awaiting updated planning regulations, the council continued behind-the-scenes work - meaning they’re now ready to move quickly. Plan-making will officially begin in June, followed by a six-week public engagement period.

The new Local Plan will shape future housing and development across the district, aiming to ensure growth is sustainable and supported by the right infrastructure - with community input playing a key role from the start.

🚧 Update on Flooded St Andrew Street Subway
Hertfordshire County Council has confirmed the St Andrew Street subway has been closed for three weeks due to flooding caused by a failed pump.

A replacement pump is on the way, with repairs set to be prioritised once it arrives. In the meantime, the council is exploring temporary measures and directing pedestrians to alternative crossing routes.

🏡 PROPERTY OF THE WEEK

If you’ve been waiting for a proper family home in Foxholes… this one’s worth a look 👇 A beautifully kept (and extended) four-bedroom detached home.

Downstairs, you’ve got a welcoming entrance hall, a handy downstairs loo and a bright sitting room at the front. It then opens up into a spacious, dual-aspect dining/living area - the kind of space that actually works for real life… whether that’s family dinners, hosting friends, or both at once.

The kitchen is clean, well looked after, and practical - with plenty of storage - and leads through to a separate utility room (aka where the chaos lives) and access to the garage.

Upstairs is just as solid: a generous main bedroom with fitted wardrobes and its own en-suite, plus three more good-sized bedrooms and a modern family bathroom.

In short: loads of space, great layout, and a proper family home in a top Hertford spot.

🌦 HERTFORD WEATHER: 7 - 13 Apr 2026

A bright start to the week with sunshine and warmer temps midweek before things turn a bit cooler and cloudier from Friday onwards. A chance of showers on Thursday, but overall a decent mix of spring sunshine and fresh, crisp days.

Best days: Wednesday for warmth, Tuesday for clear skies 🌤

✨ MIND, HEALTH + FITNESS

Life’s messy, plans go sideways - this episode is about how to reset, get unstuck, and move forward with clarity when things don’t go how you expected.

Through a conversation with a cognitive scientist, it breaks down why change feels so hard - and gives you practical ways to stop spiralling, rebuild confidence, and start fresh.

🧁 EXTRA SPRINKLES

Blueberry Vanilla Cream Cottage Cheese Pancake Bites 🥞🫐
Fluffy, protein-packed and ridiculously easy - perfect for a quick breakfast or grab-and-go snack.

Ingredients (makes ~24 bites):
• 1 cup cottage cheese
• 1/2 cup rolled oats
• 2 eggs
• 1/4 cup fresh blueberries
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tbsp maple syrup
• 1/2 tsp baking powder

💪 ~35 kcal per bite | 3g protein

Method:

  1. Preheat & blend - Heat oven to 175°C. Blend cottage cheese, oats, eggs, vanilla, maple syrup and baking powder until smooth.

  2. Add blueberries - Gently fold in (don’t crush them).

  3. Fill tray - Spoon into a greased mini muffin tin (about 3/4 full).

  4. Bake - 12-15 mins until golden. Cool slightly, then enjoy.

10 min prep | 15 min bake

Top tip: Use full-fat cottage cheese for extra creaminess - they keep well in the fridge for a few days or freeze perfectly for easy snacks.
