Country Nights, Butterfly Walks, Live Music & Rosé Dinners

Issue 52
Good Morning Locals,
One of the best things about Hertford is that there’s just enough going on. Not in an overwhelming, “you need three spreadsheets and a group chat to keep up” kind of way, but in that sweet spot where a random Tuesday can end with a quiz night, a wine dinner, live music or stumbling across an art exhibition you didn’t know existed five minutes earlier.
And honestly? This week’s Hertford Scoop feels like a perfect example of that.
We’ve got butterfly walks, 80s throwback nights, country music, Pilates offers, symphony concerts, rosé-fuelled dinners and even a freshly refurbished pub reopening its doors.
We love hearing from you, whether it’s a news-worthy event, feedback or a local business wanting to speak to the locals: we’re your platform.

COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS
🎬 Hertfordshire’s booming film and TV industry brought an estimated £29.1 million into the local economy during 2025/26 - with productions filming across the county, including popular spots in Hertford like County Hall, Hertford East station and the town centre.
The Hertfordshire Film Office has helped attract more productions while supporting local businesses, suppliers and crews along the way - generating an estimated £46.7 million in local production spend since launching in 2023. Pretty impressive for the county’s growing creative scene 👏
🚌 A futuristic rapid transit vehicle made a stop at Hartham Common this week as part of plans for the proposed Herts & Essex Rapid Transit (HERT) project.
The electric “ie-tram” could eventually run between Hemel Hempstead and Harlow along the A414 corridor, carrying up to 140 passengers and helping improve east-west public transport across the county. The wider project also includes new mobility hubs, better bus priority routes and improved links to train stations - all aimed at reducing congestion and offering alternatives to car travel as thousands of new homes are built across the area.
🍻 Good news for Bengeo locals - The Greyhound is reopening on Tuesday 19 May after a two-week refurbishment, with a fresh new look and updated space. The pub has also announced new opening hours, ready for longer afternoons and weekends spent in the beer garden this spring.

🏡 PROPERTY OF THE WEEK
Time for a little bit of house inspiration…✨ Here’s the Top 5 Most Viewed Homes on Rightmove in the last month! (Castle anyone?)
🌦 HERTFORD WEATHER: 12 - 18 May 2026
This week brings cooler temperatures and a few midweek showers, but it’s not all doom and gloom, Saturday is shaping up to be the pick of the bunch with brighter skies and milder temps. Keep the umbrella nearby, but there should still be enough dry spells for a decent coffee walk or pub garden stop.

✨ MIND, HEALTH + FITNESS
A thoughtful conversation on why so many of us feel unheard - and how better communication starts with emotional regulation, clarity, and understanding how our words are actually received. Jay unpacks the gap between intention and impact, and why connection matters more than “winning” the conversation.
🧁 EXTRA SPRINKLES
Ingredients for the potatoes:
500g Jersey Royal potatoes
Drizzle of olive oil
Salt & pepper
Drizzle of honey
1 tbsp grated parmesan
1 tsp Italian herbs
For the sauce:
1 tbsp mayo
1 tbsp Greek yoghurt
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp wholegrain mustard
½ tsp smoked paprika
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp garlic granules
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp grated parmesan
1 tbsp chopped chives
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp chopped dill
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Boil the potatoes in salted water for around 15 minutes until tender.
Add the potatoes to a baking tray and gently smash them with the back of a glass - no need for perfection here. Drizzle generously with olive oil and honey, then season with the parmesan, Italian herbs, salt and pepper. Roast for 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy.
Meanwhile, add all the honey mustard sauce ingredients to a bowl and mix well. Spoon the sauce onto a serving plate.
Remove the potatoes from the oven, roughly chop if needed, and pile them on top of the sauce. Finish with extra parmesan and fresh herbs before serving. 🙌
You’re now fully in the loop, Hertford.
