1. This Sunday: A Celebration of Music In The Heart of Hertford

2. Notting Hill Carnival (24-25 August)

💃🏽 London’s famous free Caribbean festival is the largest street party in Europe, with great music, outrageous floats and fabulous costumes. Everything from traditional steel bands, soca and calypso to the latest dub, drum ‘n’ bass, R&B and reggae blasting out from sound systems and moving floats. Live stages also feature local bands, top international artists and sounds from around the world, plus hundreds of Caribbean food stalls.

• The English Legends At Brocket Hall (Golf event)

  From 21-24 August, Brocket Hall Estate will host the prestigious English Legends tournament, presented by Roger Chapman. This exciting event marks the return of professional golf to Hertfordshire, featuring Ryder Cup captains, Major champions, and Tour winners as part of a spectacular summer on the Legends Tour. Last year it was hosted at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club - so it’s great to have this event close to us for two consecutive years.

• Jurassic Creations with Scene2

🏆 Hertford Town Council Wins Prestigious Gold Award

Hertford Town Council has been awarded the Gold Award run by the NALC, a national mark of excellence that recognises councils at the very forefront of best practice. The award celebrates outstanding standards in governance, community leadership, and council development.

Councillor Alex Daar, Leader of the Council and Chair of the Personnel Sub-committee, said: “We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises the incredible dedication of every member of our team. The Council works tirelessly to serve the people of Hertford, and we are proud to see this effort recognised at the highest national level.”

🏗️ Extra Homes Approved for Gas Works Site

Developers have secured permission to add 66 more flats at the Marshgate Drive gas works site, bringing the total to 446 homes. Only 13% will be affordable housing, and with 367 parking spaces for all units, concerns have been raised by Hertford Town Council, residents, and civic groups about traffic and insufficient parking.

Despite objections, East Herts Council approved the plans due to ongoing housing shortages, with £3.8m pledged towards local infrastructure and services.
