🚆 Exhibition Train Rolls Into Hertford
To mark 200 years of the railway, a very special exhibition train is pulling into Hertford East.
The Inspiration Exhibition Train will be in town on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February 2026, offering visitors a unique chance to step aboard a series of striking carriages that celebrate the past, present and future of rail travel.
Created in partnership with the National Railway Museum, the train features immersive exhibits designed to educate, inspire and spark curiosity - especially among the next generation.
What’s on board?
Railway Firsts - iconic moments that shaped the history of the railways
Wonderlab on Wheels - a hands-on, interactive carriage for budding engineers and problem-solvers
Your Railway Future - a careers zone highlighting the wide range of opportunities within the rail industry
🎟 Entry is free, but tickets must be booked in advance and availability is limited - early booking is strongly advised.
A brilliant day out for families, history lovers and curious minds alike.
☕️ New SMart Cafe, But With Familiar Faces
The doors are finally open at the brand-new SMart Café, and it’s a beauty. After months of love, care and creativity, this welcoming new space has launched at Southern Maltings. Join for the Open Day on Friday 6th February - everyone’s welcome to pop in, explore the café, meet the team and soak up the atmosphere.
The café is run by the lovely Carol, formerly of LEAF Café in Hertford, serving up her signature warm welcome alongside home-made cakes, light breakfasts, soups, sandwiches - plus those much-loved bacon & brie toasties and toddler platters.
