👮 New Safety Measures for Hertford’s Night-Time Economy
Police, councils, and local partners have introduced new initiatives to help people feel safer when enjoying Hertford’s nightlife. The improvements are part of the government-funded Safer Streets project, which focuses on tackling issues such as drug use and violence against women and girls in the town centre.
Key measures include upgraded CCTV, digitally enhanced cameras at Gascoyne Way car park, plain-clothed police patrols and free anti-spiking kits for venues. Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Ash-Edwards said the measures are designed to both deter crime and give residents confidence that safety is a top priority.
🚌 End of the Road for the 395 Bus Service
The long-running 395 Hertford & Ware circular bus will be discontinued at the end of August after nearly 100 years in operation.
From September, the service will be replaced by an extended 323 route, running every 30 minutes Monday-Saturday and hourly on Sundays. The new route will link Sele Farm with Fanham Common, Hertford bus station, Hertford North, and Pinehurst, as well as continuing to QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.

🔇 The Season of Saying “NO”
Summer often comes with a rush of yeses. Yes to barbecues, yes to last-minute trips, yes to one more happy hour before the sun sets.
It’s joyful, but also draining. By the time September arrives, many of us are running on empty, smiling on the outside while quietly craving space to breathe.
That’s why the shift into autumn is such a gift. If summer is about expansion, autumn is about refinement. It’s a season that invites us to pause, reset, and practice one of the most powerful, and often most difficult, forms of self-care: saying no.
Learning to set boundaries doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a practice, shaped by hard lessons, uncomfortable moments, and the slow realisation that caring for yourself isn’t selfish - it’s essential. Boundaries aren’t walls; they’re guides. They help us move toward what truly matters.
So what might it look like to embrace no this season? Maybe it’s declining another extracurricular for your child, passing on an “extra” work project, or choosing a quiet night at home instead of another social commitment.
👉🏼 That’s not letting people down - that’s choosing preservation over depletion.
Here’s the reframe: saying no doesn’t close doors. It clears the path to deeper yeses - the ones aligned with your energy, your values, and your goals. Over time, people will come to trust that when you say yes, it’s wholehearted and intentional.
As the leaves let go this autumn, perhaps it’s your turn, too. To release the guilt, to honour your limits, and to choose yourself 🙏🏼
