The Government plans to replace the current district/borough and county councils with new unitary councils delivering all services under one authority. 🤒 Why You Always Get Sick When Seasons Change (And How to Finally Stop It)
It seems to happen every year. Summer slips away, autumn arrives, and suddenly you’re battling a scratchy throat, runny nose, or that general “off” feeling. The good news? There’s science behind why this happens - and ways to stop it.
❓Why seasonal shifts affect your health:
Temperature and humidity swings put stress on your body. Sudden drops in temperature force your system to adjust quickly, while cooler, drier air dries out your mucous membranes - your first defence against infection.
More time indoors = more germs. Classrooms, offices, and busy cafés become prime spots for viruses to spread.
Allergies add fuel to the fire. Autumn pollen and mould can mimic or worsen cold symptoms, making it tricky to tell the difference.
❗️Smart habits to stay healthy:
Keep up good hand hygiene and resist touching your face.
Drink plenty of water to keep your natural defences strong.
Aim for 7–8 hours of sleep — it makes a big difference to your immunity.
Eat a rainbow of fruit and veg, and consider boosters like vitamin C, zinc, or elderberry.
Think about getting the annual flu jab.
Prioritise downtime - stress is a real immunity killer.
If allergies bother you, start treatment early with sprays or antihistamines.
Getting sick when the seasons change isn’t inevitable. With a few proactive habits, you can strengthen your immune system and stay ahead of the sniffles this year.
